Looking For Help And New Friends Hat Yai

Featured Replies

Hello everybody,

I am a young, fun, slightly mad 37 year old lady who is retraining as a teacher. I am looking to move to Thailand at the end of August around the Hat Yai area and wondered how best to go about contacting and/or meeting people over there. Although I do enjoy my own company, it would be nice to be in contact with ex pats living in the area to help advise on rental accomodation etc.

Many thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi allycross,

I don't live in Hat Yai (Koh Lanta), but I spent a week in nearby Songkhla on a course for work in December.

There are a number of expats there associated with the oil and gas industry.

If you venture down to Songkhla, I can recommend the "Moon Bar Steakhouse" in one of the little back streets. It is owned by the Aussie guy that taught my course and his local wife. He has lived there for ever, and knows a lot about things and many expats come through there and the surrounding cafes resturants and bars in the area. They are all quite small places and people are very friendly. There was a bakery next door that he said good Aussie style meat pies too.

Good luck in Hat Yai,

red

Thanks for that Red,

I am wondering now after receiving various pieces of advice if Hat Yai will be the best place for me to start. I may look into Songkhla and Bangkok again. Do you know of many language schools in Songkhla?

Thanks

Ali
