So what I want to know is what is the difference between UK and Thai Newspapers/Media.Why can't Thai newspapers wield the same power as most western countrys.Would anything happen to a Thai minister if he was caught "fiddling" his expenses,or would it just be brushed aside?

Could you post a link to the story and a few lines from it.

Your topic title does not match your post without that info.

ubonjoe I think it is a hypothetical question based on the appalling "expense fiddling" by some British MPs that has been exposed by the Daily Telegraph. :):D:D

The journalist, if he was lucky, would be sued for defamation for millions, if not billions of baht. He would be fired from his position as well. If he were less lucky, he would join a well known attorney from the South of Thailand who hasn't been seen for years. Or they might find his bullet-ridden body so others will know the price to be paid.

Yes, the UK's Daily Telegraph has used the freedom of information act to obtain copies of the expense claims of Members of Parliament. A good number have shown up some really dubious claims including one for an artificial island with shelter for ducks in a Member's garden pond. A significant number of MPs with doubtful claims have already declared they won't be standing and more look like they will not be selected to stand in the next election. There may also be criminal charges against some. Major reforms are being touted and the Speaker of the house has been forced to step down - the first Speaker to be forced out for 300 years (1695).

The OP is contrasting the effect the UK newspapers have had with the situation should a similar case be reported in Thailand.

Scott's scenario seems most likely, and don't forget the flurry of LM accusations if things, like the UK, move up the food chain.

There were accusations of former PM Surayud having a private trainyard. There were pictures taken from all kinds of angles.

Nothing happened to the reporters. In the end they were allowed inside and checked it out for themselves.

Not before the site had been cleaned up, the alien spacecraft hidden away, the gun that really killed JFK locked in a cupboard and Elvis shuffled off into the basement.
