My fiance said she cannot get the background check without being married, aswell as the medical check?

Police background checks are often required as part of pre-employment checking (Nothing to do with being married).

Anyone can walk into any hospital and get any medical they want, provided they are willing to pay the fee.

I would take this then as an early warning of things to come.

I expect she would have to have official paperwork from Embassy of Canada for specific background or medical tests addressed to Canada for immigration reasons.

Be careful, I would not marry her before checking her out. Something is really wrong and she is hiding it. Background checks are done all the time for anyone married, or single

Be careful, I would not marry her before checking her out. Something is really wrong and she is hiding it. Background checks are done all the time for anyone married, or single

That's a very good point. Maybe there is something she'd rather you not knew before you are married.

I'd start making sure that you don't get trapped by other means too.... keep the wee fella covered.

You might be misunderstanding your girl friend. She may be saying that it is not needed unless you are married and plan on getting a visa that requires marriage.

Also both are only valid for a certain period of time.

Or maybe she misunderstands the rules. A quick read through posts on this forum will show that many people, Thai and non Thai, are unsure about what is required and when.
