Thinking Of An Mpa Or Mpp In Thailand?

Featured Replies

Apologies if this is a repeat question or put in the wrong forum. (I did see the pinned topic, but wanted some quick responses to my questions and help/advice from teachers/professors/international students)

I am soon to be entering my 4th year BA degree, double major in History and Poly Sci. I've been looking at the possibility of studying overseas for a masters degree in Public Admin or Public Policy. Motivation is mainly in the fact that I do not have/ probabably couldn't get 30k to study in Canada and Thai Universities cut tuition costs in half. Also I would like to work for foreign affairs someday, so I was told foreign experience would look relatively good in the application process.

I've looked into some international schools in Universities, such as Thammasat, Chulu, and Rangsit. Rangsit has caught my eye since there is more youtube/media on the internet (that I have found) about it's international program (and awesome cheerleading, would they let a foreign-cheerleader try out? :) ). But I'm not sure about the schools rep., their International Programs seem only a few years old. And so I come here, I ask because I've mostly seen posts concerning Buisness related programs.

A Thai friend has told me a degree from a Thai school (Rangsit) may not be internationally recognized or accepted here.. but knowing as many professors as I do who have studied abroad in various countries (History/Asian Studies), I can't see that being true? A school in my current city also offers exchange with Thammasat, but you have to pay their tuition costs... so that killed that idea.

Any advice// comments?

Also, what say you of Law School in Thailand? I know a girl who studies Law at Chulalongkorn, but where else?

Upon further investigation, it seems Thammasat offers pretty solid political science programs. Anyone with any insight into any of these schools?

I'm afraid that at the Master's level, in *most* universities, in *most* fields, especially if taught in English by Thais, your degree would not be considered equivalent level to that in your native country- and even if the universities you mention were exceptions, you would constantly be fighting for the recognition.

I wouldn't be so sure that the savings of money would be worth the time spent and the reward acquired. Good luck.
