Hydroponics Suppliers ?

Recommended Posts

use as large a reservoir as possible for mixing and feeding your plants, this will help with the water temperature( cooler) and you're also less likely to have large swings in your ph and e.c

never feed the dose recomended, always give less and add more when needed..best to measure the salts with an e.c meter, if you are using ro water it will give you a neutral base so any salts added should just be your nutrients

silicone is a good additive in hyroponics

happy gardening

Hello thescot, first, thats some setup you've got going.

I got one of the slabs at ACK a long time ago to try, but they have no sleeves for the slabs. Have you tried Dutch Green in CM? They also had Hydrotron at one time, that's where joecano got his from, but from a Thai guy(same co) out by Future Park,BKK.

I was going to buy blocks and slab's from him at one time to try. He works out of his house in a big housing development about 4-6k west of FP. I got vine clips from another guy in PC, he was involved DG/Take Me Home brand of hydro vegies, he the one who ran the crew that built ACK's green houses and others in LOS.

If your making your own, 'double check your numbers'! I weighed out and mixed up a 10lt on the fly. The A went OK, then onto the B I wasn't pay attention and had a lot of sediment in the bucket. I thought I was just having a problem because the water was cold. I put the bucket in side and said 'tomorrow'. Last night I pulled out the worksheet and saw 250gr for 5lt, 500gr for 10lt, I used the whole 1kg bag. This afternoon after coming back from the dentist I mixed the B to make 20lts, and tomorrow go get 2 kgs of cal nit so I can finnish the 20lt of A.

Not much hydroponic posting of late so i thought i would give an update of my new trials. The first trials had pretty good results so i decided to build a greenhouse ant try some more. Started growing in a rice hull / perlite mix and also rockwool slabs which can be bought at ACK with plastic covers on (white outside and a black inner lining) for 170bht per slab. The cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers are all growing great in the rockwool. The dripper system comes on from the timer twice per day for 15mins each time (drippers bought for 25bt for a packet of 20) they were sourced from a local irrigation supplier and the manufacturer is super products. The drippers are approx 3lts per hour but with a valve in the supply line this is reduced. The other toms, peppers and cucumber are grown in the perlite/rice hull mix and are watered once per day by hand and those too are growing like crazy.

One of my first trials with lettuce and Thai veg has been moved into the greenhouse (blue plastic frame) and the other thai veg is still behind the house and both are still giving good results without much effort.

Enjoy

Hello thescot, you've been busy, that's quite a selection of plants you've got growing. Thanks for the info on the slabs, what brand were they? . Did you get blocks for the slabs, or make your own blocks?

Your cucumbers look great, when you going to try cantaloupe? Good quality ones are Bt.119@kg at The Mall Korat and Crown Plaza.

I also used the S-P drippers, a 4-way fitting, spaghetti with angle drip stakes into the bags.

As like last year at this time, but with less plants to worry about, it's raining when I need to get some tractor work done. I've got people coming to clear out the weeds to get the growing area ready, need to put the plastic ground cover down, run a couple more irrigation lines, install some drippers and fill a few hundred bags with coir.

Got 29 trays started, 2 ready to transplant(anchos), waiting for 1/2-lb. more seed to arrive from the ex.

As of my screw up on mixing my last 10(20?) lt of A & B nutes, when I tried to correct my error, I porked the pooch again, so it has been used as mango, jackfruit and papaya tree fertilizer. It just wasn't in the books to be chili nutes.

Some more things from Wesco and a local store, I've been up and running for a few weeks.

Something you might look at, your NTF in the back of the house, instead of using the full size EL, use the reducer first into a 1" EL. The reducer makes the nute level higher in the tube making it more of a DFT and if you loose power, the tube will not fully drain, 1/2"-3/4" of nutes will keep the plants alive a while longer.

Always good to other peoples pictures, keep them coming.

Rice555,

The greenhouse is full of stuff growing so whilst shopping yesterday at Chatuchak and KU i bought loads of pots and bags for the chilli and pepper seedlings which are growing great and will be ready for transplanting soon. The back seats were folded back and i can tell you that there was not much room left in the fortuner on our return. Bought a bag of peat moss (klassman brand) and it must be around 50kg from KU for around 900bht for a try. The consistency of the moss is pretty fine and very similar to the bags of coir i also bought. Never tried any of them before but want to experiment with different stuff on the new seedlings to get a better idea of which is better and more cost efficient.

Another purchase was some large bags of perlite which were also around 900bth from KU but can be purchased at 695bht from ACK but i required it yesterday and had no time to get to ACK. Some other bits and bobs then a trip to chatuchak flower market (nightmare). Firstly i was stuck trying to get parked in the market for almost 1 hr before deciding to park right next door in JJ mall (from another thread i now know where to park if i go again). Never bought much from there as time was not on our side.

The rockwool from ACK is "basalan srtructuur" which after a search seems to be a brand name of growdan. Whey were out of stock when i went and they gave me a 3 week delivery estimate but they surprised me in that it was here in 2 weeks from order. I would assume they may have ordered more stock at the same time so you may be in luck if ordering. They dont have any grow cubes so i just cut the rockwool into the holes in a tray which i use for the seedlings. Everything in the rockwool is growing crazy especially the cucumbers which are all now flowering. Tried a wee bit of hand polinating with some to see if there is any difference with just leaving them. The seed bag didn't give much info on whether this was required or not.

Great idea with the NFT but what you cannot see is at the end inside the PVC before the return tube i have stuck some poly foam on each row from the bottom up approx 1/3rd of the dia which will keep some water in the system if a power cut should happen but thanks for heads up anyway.

dead right Maizefarmer..... it would be great if we could get cheap nutrient.... this shouldn't be difficult, nutrient doesn't have to be tailored to each plant, as long as it gets what it needs it will leave the rest (slightly wasteful on a massive scale), something like phosphogen..... a 50Kg bag of 15 15 15 for 1000Bt.(enough for about 25,0000 liters?)with micronutrients , but i don't think it should contain urea as this needs bacteria in the soil to make it available to plant?

Hello oz93666, you've got it part way correct, but where are you going to find "water soluble" 15-15-15 50kg for Bt.1,000.? You still need Trace Elements, 1kg Bt.500.

We just don't need the 'fillers' from regular fertilizer to clog up the growing media.

I do agree with MF about low cost systems.

My system is a bag, my irrigation system is a watering can, my irrigation controller is me. Again, I don't grow leafy vegetables, only chili, egg and tom's so only need much of a system, just the right nutes.

15 is double the N my plants need, to add more water to thin down to 6-7, the 15's(P-K) may get too watered down.
