10 New Zealanders quarantined in Sa Kaew for flu check

SA KAEW: -- Health officials Friday quarantined 10 New Zealand tourists after one of them was found to have high fever when crossing the border at the Aranyaprathet checkpoint.

Officials measured the body temperature of Blair Matthew and found that he had 39.3 Celsius degree body temperature.

Matthew had led 9 other New Zealanders to visit Vietnam. They had arrived from New Zealand before visiting Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia and returned to Thailand the check point at 12:30 pm Friday.

The ten were sent to the Aranyaprathet for quarantine pending a test whether Matthew had contacted the type A (H1N1) influenza virus or not.

IMHO, shouldn't all these flu, swine flu or whatever flu related "news" belong into a health forum?

Thought I've read that somewhere before. Personally I feel people are scared and aware enough about these diseases

and there is no need to make further comments which scare more and more people. The opposite should be done!

Thanks

Think people are underestimating the raising of the threat , by the WHO , to level 6 and should be aware that borders could be slammed shut at any time, leaving people on the wrong side.

I think Iwill suspend any plans to travel for a time. I don't think I would want to get caught in this situation and I certainly wouldn't want to be far from home if I was really sick. At juncture in time, the chances of getting sick seem to be a little too high for my comfort level.

Gotta be seen to be doing something.

I'd like to see them try to quarantine a bunch of wealthy Bangkok Chinese coming back from the casino. They'd be quickly told where to stick their quarantine ideas if they didn't want to be transferred to Sungai Golok.
