have 1 entry left on a tourist visa issued in Vientiane, and want to go hit a border to activate it... am in Bangkok now. would like to do it on the cheap, taking a bus from here in Bkk, where to go? would be great if wherever the destination i could stay one night fairly cheap and see somewhere new for an evening, any tips as to where to head would be greatly appreciated, thx in advance friends..!

He wants cheap and has a visa so Cambodia is probably the best choice. There is train and bus service and organized visa run service from Bangkok. For cheap the bus service to transport casino customers at 200 baht fits the bill. Most leave from Rama IV/Lumpini Park starting early (about 0400 I believe) - there are a number of departures for 3 or 4 hours and comfortable express service (but a few pickups in Bangkok on the way). Regular bus service is also cheap. But the visa service includes lunch/transport and visa for Cambodia so is not that expensive at about 2,000 baht.

thx for that, regular bus service would be fine, i would actually prefer to end up in Cambo somewhere on the cheap side i could stay for at least a night, so that would rule out the organized visa runs... if i were to just take a bus from Bkk to a border where exactly would i be trying to go? any chance of late-night bus trips from Mo Chit or any other Bkk bus station? would be totally up for heading out *now*..! thx again for any advice friends..!

It is not that far for an overnight trip. The major destination is Aranyprathet (bus/train) and you cross the border to the casinos on the other side. Believe they all have hotel rooms and reasonable price.
