Moving Province What The Procedurewith Immigration

Hi,

I am moving from the central immigration officeb area on Tuesday and down to the Rayong office area on tuesday night.

I am assuming its fairly easy,tell the office here before I go and then go to the new office within a certain timeframe ?

I am on a NON O extension?

Have I missed anything ? and is it 24 hours ?

You don't need to anything at the office you have been using.

You can wait until your next 90 day report is due and report to your new office taking proof of address with you.

Or go to immigration when you get to Rayong and file a TM28 change of address form.

I was under the impression when you move you have to report you're new address on the TM 28 to the Immigration office in the new area within 24 hours.

The House Master is also required to file a notice TM-30 of Foreigner living at the address in 24 hours.

That is strictly speaking correct. However the tm 28 report doesn't seem to be enforced any more. The TM 30 report seems to be enforced again in some regions.

If you look at the TM28 it is a dual use form. It is to notify of a change of address or the 24 hour notification. Immigration does not enforce the 24 hour reporting.

The TM 30 is only the owners worry. Unless it is your spouse that owns the residence then it does become a worry. There have been a few reports of immigration fining a members wife when the went to immigration for something.

These are two totaly separate requirements. Immigration may not even update a persons address in their system from information on the TM30 because it could just be a temporary address.

Just to update on this,

I went to immigration within the 24hrs fully prepared as mentioned here so thanks,I did indeed need to complete a Tm 28 and 30 and it was stressed you moved here yesterday did you ?

Yes, Rayong (Mapthaphut) is fairly strict about the 24-hour notification rule for any move, even within the province. The penalty is an 800 baht fine.

Hi all, to notify my change of residence from bangkok to Ban Phe (Rayong), is ok to go to local police in Ban Phe or I need to go to immigration in Rayong?

(in Ban Phe there isn't immigration office)

You have to notify immigration, only the land lord has the option of reporting you to the local police or immigration.

Actually you are required by law to do so under para 3 and 4 below but thankfully it is not normally enforced. Section 38 requires the house owner to report as a separate item.

Section 37 : An alien having received a temporary entry permit into the Kingdom must comply with the

following :

1. Shall not engage in the occupation or temporary or employment unless authorized by the

Director General. or competent official deputized by the Director General . If , in any case , there is a law

concerning alien employment provided hereafter , the granting of work privileges must comply with the

law concerned.

2. Shall stay at the place as indicated to the competent official. Where there is proper reason

that he cannot stay at the place as indicated to the competent official, he shall notify the competent official

of the change in residence , within 24 hours from the time of removing to said place.

3. Shall notify the police official of the local police station where such alien resides, within twenty

– four hours from the time of arrival. In the case of change in residence in which new residence is not

located the same area with the former police stations , such alien must notify the police official of the

police station for that area within twenty – four hours from the time of arrival.

4. If the alien travels to any province and will stay there longer than twenty – four hours , such

alien must notify the police official of the police station for that area within forty – eight hours from the time

of arrival.

5. If the alien stays in the Kingdom longer than ninety days, such alien must notify the

competent official at the Immigration Division , in writing , concerning his place of stay , as soon as

possible upon expiration of ninety days. The alien is required to do so every ninety days. Where there is

an Immigration Office , the alien may notify a competent Immigration Official of that office.

The provision of ( 3 ) and ( 4 ) shall not apply to any cases under Section 34 by any conditions as

prescribed by the Director General.

In making notification under this Section , the alien may make notification in person or send a

letter of notification to the competent official , in accordance with the regulations prescribed by the

Director General .

By law you would but most people do not do that and it is not normally expected or enforced.
