I believe that most music have been digitally re-mastered already,

and you can find most stuffs off the net.

I have never heard of people converting vinyls.

I think they have decent USB turntables for cheap with software that will nearly automate the process for you. Google it.

I have a device sitting in my drawer that does the job. I bought it 5 years ago in the US. All you need is a turntable/tape deck, a couple of cables and an amp and some software

If you want to maintain quality and don't want to be stuck downloading MP3's at a reduced rate you can look at something like this:
