I have seen too many accident victims to contemplate just one or two.

When Farang men get taken into emergency room after motorcycle accidents, I wonder why they get so drunk and then ride motorcycles, Thai men it is normal, but Farang men, what happened ? They're smarter than Thai people yes ?

Don't drink and drive in Thailand.

I wonder how many people here do drinking and driving ? :)

Whatever gave you that rather racist idea?

Only a few in the 5 years I have lived in LOS, but I do NOT live in BKK. In USA, at least one a day, when I lived in Phoenix & So. Florida. Drivers in LOS definately more polite than back home, but Thais on MC & on foot, the same as Thai dogs - pay no attention to traffic & constantly cut in front of cars.

4:00p.m. New Years Eve, 6 years ago -Two foreigners racing down Thepprasit Road with their Thai girlfriends on the back, don't know what happened but they slammed into each other and both bikes instantly went up in flames. I was on a motorbike taxi heading in the opposite direction and the driver pulled out his 2-way to call for help, people were running from everywhere but there was nothing anyone could do. Sight never to be forgotten.

Walking in front of Indra Regent Hotel, afternoon rush hour, years ago. Long line of cars and buses in the single southbound lane of Ratchaprarop Road, waiting to move. I heard an ultra-loud motorcycle coming at high speed, spewing a cloud of exhaust fumes. Turned to look. He was heading south, in a northbound lane, zooming by the line of unmoving vehicles just at his left side. He didn't see the car that was coming out from a side soi, emerging thru a gap in the line of vehicles, about to make a right turn and head north on Ratchaprarop. He slammed full speed into the driver-side door. As he lay on the road, he pounded his fist on the pavement. I hoped that the driver of the car was not badly injured as well.

Last December, just meters from my house, a fully-loaded, speeding inter-provincial bus hit a tree at 2 in the morning, obliterating the front third of the bus. Took about a dozen ambulances to carry away the wounded, dying and dead. At least a dozen fatalities. Not a single mention of it in the media. Wonder how often that happens.

....... simialr incident in Leoi 1999 - I was asked to use my tractor to pull a minibus from an irrigation canal: 4 kids and 2 adults drowned - no mention of it in the media. Expected the local rag to have it on the front page for the afternoon. No mention at all.

I think it happens quite often.
