The Bangkok Survivor's Handbook

Featured Replies

I just ordered this book from Amazon.com and has anybody read it and is it a good book on moving and living in Thailand? Are there any other titles that are non-tourist/travel related on living in Thailand?

I would also recommend "Healthy Living In Thailand And Southeast Asia" by Asia Books. This book can be found not only in Asia Books but just about any bookstore that has an English section. It was written by members of the Thai Red Cross, some of who are foreign but live here and speak/read/write fluent Thai in addition to practicing medicine here. Many of the survival skills you would need for living here are detailed in this book along with lots and lots of hospitals and their ratings. I have just checked out your link to "The Bangkok Survivor's Handbook" on amazon.com and although it's probably a good read, the book doesn't seem to have anything new to offer and this information can easily be found from widely available sources plus the book mentioned above. Also, a lot of people on this website have lived here for years and could probably give you some good tips. Good luck!

The Bangkok Guide by the Australia-New Zealand Womens group is excellent for people moving to Thailand. Available at any good book store.
