Best Price/service For Crown?

Featured Replies

I am getting some work done at Bangkok Dental Hospital, as recommended, and they are very good but I am wondering would it be better to get a crown somewhere else. I've had a root canal that I thought would cost 9,000 but cost 14k just for the Microscopic Endoddontic surgery (2 sessions) on the (back) tooth excluding xrays etc...

When I asked the reception how much the crown to go on top would be they said around 24k. I does seem that the prices are very close to what I would pay at home, which seems unnecessary.

Some prices from their price list:

Prosthodontic Department:

Study Models 900

Cast Post and core 3,500 - 5,000

Crown full ceramic 16,000

Crown full gold 19,000

Crown Procelain High Precious Metal 16,000

Crown Porcelain Semi Metal 14,000

So anybody recommend a cheaper as good option?

I don't won't to remortgage my house just to pay for one tooth!

Thanks

I think that is a bit steep. Why not go to Samitivej or Bumrungrad Hospitals and get other opinions. A couple months ago I had a crown put on an incisor, or rather the tooth behind the incisor and it came to about 6500 baht, this was done at Synphaet Hospital out on Ramintra Road going to Minburi.

Google--dentist bangkok. you will get a large number of hits. Most of the websites will have prices.

They're really taking you for a ride with prices like that.

I just had a crown fitted on a rear molar for 7000 baht. I had root canal done for 5000 baht total over 3 treatments.

My dentist has a price list and full gold crowns are about 9000 baht from memory. There are no extra add ons, that's the full price.

That is a good rate. I have today been quoted 10,000-12,000 for root canal and 9,000-14,000 for Crown.

Where is your dentist?

I just had a gold onlay done at Dental Hospital and it was 14,500 baht...agreed the price was more than most dentists here but I felt the work was excellent and it should last me the rest of my life...so I am pleased with my decision. Just keep in mind that mediocre dental work can cause you big problems in the future and it can get expensive redoing work that wasnt done properly to begin with.

You aren't looking for "best service", you're looking for the "cheapest price". Good luck.

I paid around the same, 16k baht for a crown in Pattya international, which was recomended. I don't believe in penny pinching when it comes to such things. Too risky in LoS for my taste. But you're right, it's not so cheap.

  • 2 weeks later...

I go to a lovely dentist in PAKCHONG and she is great, i got 2 crowns for 10,000 baht. I was a dental nurse in australia and she is a good dentist, i have since mooved to bangkok and she recomended me to go to her teacher but have not yet needed to.

All the above, except that I went to the APC Dental Centre in Pattaya, Beach Rd Soi 5, near Second Rd.

Very good treatment for 9000 baht per crown - porcelain fused to non-precious metal - more expensive for gold, etc. So far, really good.

I also had extensive work done at the Dental Hospital, Sukhumvit Soi 49 in Bangkok. I cannot fault them after nine visits. Bit more expensive though.
