Looking For An Eye Lid Operation After An Accident

Featured Replies

Hello

Last year my step daughter had a nasty moped accident, luckily after several

operations she is ok apart from a droopy eye lid above her left eye.

My wife and i are returning to Thailand later this year and i would like to look

to see if this could be corrected some way.

So first and formost i would like to know any recommendations on any hospital

that we could go and have an honest assesment made of my step daughter,if there

is nothing they can do then so be it.

Thanks in advance

Paul

Why not get it done in UK, it is a required plastic surgery case, is it not?

Why doesn't your GP refer you to a specialist?

Most likely there is damage to the nerve(s) controlling the eyelid. I think something can be done, but it may require a nerve graft.

I suggest you consult this doctor who specializes in reconstructive plastic surgery in children:

He is at Bangkok Hospital. He is also in a senior position at Ramathibodi Hospitak which is the best government hospital for this type of thing but it will be easier to consult him in his private practice. If he advises that surgery would be beneficial then you can look into the question of where to have it done as it is likely to be quite expensive at a private hospital.

Good luck

Hello

Khundon, sorry i didn't say that she is 21 and living in Thailand

so i guess the Nhs is not going to be much help.

Sheryl. Thankyou for that, i will contact him and get an appointment

for her.

Thanks again

Paul

Hi,

I have had many eyelid surgeries also due to an accident. I had mine done byu an occular plastic surgeon. This is an opthamologist who is also trained in plastic surgery of the eye. They usually operate on just eyelids and tearducts...so are pretty well versed in these situations. I would follow Sheryl's recommendation and see how that goes.
