Running Vista 64 bit HP SP2 and Firefox 3.5 (though was the same before 3.5)

In none of the places where I write anything, do I see any evidence of spoell checking or spelling help. Not Gmail, here, other forums, MS Word etc. Some places have righyt click correction, others underline errors etc. but I'm getting none of this.

Am I missing a simple trick or is it something more complicated ?

Thanks

Legal or illegal software?

All the software on my computer has spell-check that works...but all the software is from the US.

Yes, all legal software and not from Thailand.

In Firefox go to Tools, Options, Advanced, General, 6th check box "Check my spelling as I type".

Thanks, but this is and has been ticked all along.

Why is the Firefox normal spell checker not working ?

Also, are spell checkers in forums not connected to the forum and not the browser or PC ?

Just wondering why I have to install something when Firefox already has something. I'd rather know why it isn't working as well.

After I downloaded and installed Firefox 3.5 R2, I found enough glitches to make it too aggravating to use. Since I like Firefox, I did a total uninstall, that means history and bookmarks too. I reinstalled and it has been working fine. Firefox has the annoying habit of developing glitches the longer you use it. So far, so good. It doesn't take long to uninstall and reinstall.

some might call me insane for that... I didn't upgrade FF2 to FF3 and I am still keep on going with the old mate.

What you state that was exactly the reason why I run FF2 on all my computers (except a notebook).

Anyway you can backup your bookmarks, history and much more with the free MOZBACKUP utility. Great program!

Google for it.

PC is otherwise fine but I don't know whether it is something I have to turn on in Vista (which I still think is a possible answer) or some glitch with SP2 or FF 3.5

One further thing I've noticed is that some websites which usually have a spell check function in the post pox with a [tick] no longer have that functionality. I wonder if, intuitively, Vista or FF has turned off that graphic because there is no underlying spelling functionality turned on or available. As FF says it is turned on, I turn to Windoze Vista (HP SP2) and think that perhaps that is the root cause of the problem. Any thoughts ?
