Artisi Posted July 13, 2009 Share Posted July 13, 2009 Although not an absolute necessity I would drain the tank so that on start-up again the air-cushion in the tank is correct. If the water supply is above the pump then the tank needs to be drained on a regular basis otherwise the "air cushion" in the tank is depleted over time and the pump will hunt on and off, this should be explained in any operating manual. If the pump is installed with a "suction lift" ie the water supply is below the pump intake you still need to be aware and to maintain the air cushion. Changing the pressure settings on the pressure switch won't effect the flow rate from the pump it just changes the set points which control the range of on / off switching.
