Hi Guys,

Greetings! My parents will travel Thailand with a Tourist Visa, they are Indian Passport holders. As they are Government Retired officer, I wonder if I can change their visa status to Non Imm "O" (retirement) from Tourist Visa.

I saw the financial condition is 800K as bank balance to prove. My inquiry is,

1) For Asian passport holder, it should be 400K!

2) Can we show 400K cash? After granting 3 months VISA, we open a bank a/c and then deposit cash?

seems a bit confusing, can any fellow advise?

I think you are really confused.

If you are talking about a Retirement Extension your Father can get a twelve month extension for retirement with this rule.

In the case of an alien

visiting a Thai spouse or child:

Permission

will be granted for a period of not more than 60 days at a time

(1) The alien has obtained a temporary visa (NON-IM);

(2) The applicant is 50 years of age or over;

(3) Proof of income of not less than Baht 65,000 per month; or

(4) Account deposit with a bank in Thailand of not less than

800,000 Baht as shown in the bank account for the past 3 months at the filing date of the application. For the first year, the applicant should have that amount in his bank account for not less than 60 days or

(5) Annual income plus bank account deposit totaling not less

Your Mother can get a 12 month Extension as his dependant.

2.20 In the case of a family

member of an alien who has been permitted temporary

stay under clauses 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.5, 2.6,2.7, 2.10, 2.12, 2.13,2.4, 2.15, 2.16, 2.17,

2.21, 2.22,2.26,6.29 of this Order (applicable only to parents, spouse, child, adopted child or child of

his/her spouse):

Permission will be

granted for a period of

not more than 1 year at a time.

(1) The alien has obtained a temporary visa (NON-IM);

(2) Proof of family relationship;

(3) In the case of a spouse, the marital relationship shall be de

jure (legitimate) and de facto;

I understand those. I question is how does my father open a bank a/c in Thailand.

For example, He will enter Thailand with a tourist VISA. then he will apply for converting to Non-Imm "O". During that time can he show evidence of 800k in cash?

That stands, Immigration will grant 3 months Non-Imm "O". Then he will open a bank a/c with 800K and later he will show this and extend for 1 year.

2) I have another question as you mention about dependent visa.

I am living Thailand and my VISA category is Non-Imm "B". But I run this VISA base on University support (as doing MBA). can I apply for my parent as dependent VISA and showing 50K-100K bank balance?

what is your opinion?

1. He walks into a bank and asks to open a bank account.

He may be lucky first time or he may have to try a few. He will find a bank that will open an account for him.

2. No not with a Non B Visa. You have to be on 12 monthly extensions from Immigration.

Thank you for all.

1) Siam City Bank or TMB may be the fist choice.

2) Yes, I am living in Thailand over 8 years and I have extended my Non-Imm "B" with 12 months extension every year. In this case, I can apply dependend VISA for my parents. :)

1. They would not be my choice.

2. 500k in Thai bank account for 3 months will be required for them to obtain extension of stay for your study.
