One has to syke oneself up for the pending onslaught of next to freezing water that is about to induce a bloody heart attack if your not prepared. I find a few seconds of rapid deep breathing before pouring can take the edge off...after that its just a desparate scramble to get the job done, and the quicker the better. The locals who have hot water showers, dishwashers, washing machines etc still amaze me " I don't trust this new fangled cack"..."well, give it to me then"...buddha, no..it took me 7 decades to save up for this shit".
