Hi

I have tried to read so much information on the internet about obtaining visa but it is difficult to understand, sometimes seemingly contradictory. I hope someone can provide me information.

I have come to Thailand from Australia on 30 day visa on arrival, and before 30 days expires I leave the country to holiday elsewhere then re-enter Thailand via plane, many times, have had no problems. I have a Thai husband, is it possible to get a better visa without leaving Thailand, say in Bangkok? I think I satisfy financial requirements to show I can support my spouse, but again information is confusing.

Can anyone advise what the best visa to go for should be, I want to stay in Thailand a long time. Thanks

You can't get a visa inside of Thailand, but you can get a 60 day extension based on being married to a Thai national for 1,900 baht on show of your marriage certificate.

Is your husband living in Thailand or are you just visiting here?

If your husband is officialy living with you in Thailand you can first get the 60 day extension I mentioned and your convert your visa exempt entry if you qualify. For a foreign woman married to a Thai husband the requirements are less strict. You will need to show an income of over 10,000 a month.

Easier is it to get a non-O visa from a neighbouring country and then return and during the last 30 days of your permission to stay go to immigration and ask for an extension of stay for 1 year and every year after that.

You are confused. Your Thai Husband has to support you. Not the other way round. You do not have to prove any income or savings.

You can get 12 monthly extensions of stay which means that you do not have to leave the country.

I really am not too sure how much money he has to show but it is nowhere near the amount that a Foreign Husband does.

Go with your Husband and have a chat with your local Immigration.

As Mario said it may well be different if the two of you do not actually live in Thailand.

Thanks!!! After freaking out for no reason I went today to immigration and got 60 days extension no problems. Thai husband took care everything, I was in & out in 20 minutes, all I had to do was write on the form I want extension of stay because husband has flu (not 2009) and therefore I want to stay in Thailand longer to take care & pay B1900. The Official there said I can get 1 year Visa from Bangkok in 60 days, no problems and gave us some paperwork in Thai about this.

My first time at immigration inside Thailand and not the negative experience I was expecting. I only wish I'd asked on this forum sooner, instead I just listened to all the falang men that say its too difficult and go to malaysia because thailand immigration no good.

My husband lives with me..nowhere at the moment..but he is registered on his parents house card which he took and showed to immigration.

I'll let you know if I get the 1 year in Bangkok in 60 days.
