Hi,

Myself and a friend are heading out to Thailand on 19th September and are looking for a bit of advice on where to go.

We are 2 single girls looking for a relaxing holiday with a bit of sightseeing and a pleasant relaxed nightlife.

I was initially looking at Krabi, in particular Ao Nang and then heading over to Phi Phi for few days but having done some reading it may be that, weather wise, we are better off towards Ko Samui.

We will be flying into Bangkok on 19th and staying there for 2 nights then will be free to fly on from there. We will be departing Bangkok 4th October and plan to stay the night before.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as my head is done in with all the information on the various destinations.

Thanks

if your schedule allows i would include chiangmai, it is so very different from the coastal areas and very very easy going, hills, temples jungle and nice people

Western and North Western monsoon lasts USUALLY from May till October. Wettest months for Bangkok are September and October, but that's alright, because it does not rain the whole time.

The rainy season in the lower Golf of Thailand starts end of October and lasts until December. So Koh Samui and Koh Phangan would be better than the other side at your travel schedule.

I would just come to BKK and decide on the spot, Krabi or Samui. Bad weather means ferry are not operating wherever. Rooms will be available everywhere.

Khoh Phengang is supposed to be lovely and good if you are on a budget a small bungalow on the beach is affordable....Ive never been myself but my brother is in love with the place, beware the moon parties though they are not quiet.

Have you thought about Hua Hin its a coastal town the king holidays there plenty of foreigners so you are not isolated. Bungalows/villas with pools are cheap the beach isn't fantastic but its there..... Im a girl and have travelled there myself a few times it has a lot of charm a few bars and restaurants to keep you busy in the night time....please take care at night stay on the busy roads and always stay together wherever you go. And learn to say "My Ow Carr" It means No thanks it will keep the beggars at bay.

But If you do get the chance I'd try Krabi its supposed to be the most beautiful place in Thailand I want to go rain or shine !!

Good Luck/ Chok Dee Carr

That's Koh Phangan. next to Koh Samui. Many, many threads about that island on Thai Visa to check out. It's very nice, if you like that kind of surroundings.

And please, charliemike11, don't give any Thai language lessons.

Two single girls Uhmmm, :D Ha ha sorry I could not resist . :D

Where you will go while in Thailand all depends on your personal preferences,

First I would look at agoda.com for Hotel accommodations , I have used them many times and I find their prices to be the best and their Service terrific. Secondly while in BKK I would certainly Visit the Grand Palace , if you like shopping , and who does not. MBK is a good choice indoor and cool, and JJ market is a must see , don’t worry too much about transportation , taxis are very inexpensive, 100-200 bth. Also The Sky train is an excellent way to get around and beat the traffic. Very inexpensive, fast and easy to use. Also a river ride might be a nice thing to do while in BKK. I would consider one of the Day trips to the islands. Pi Pi island is where the movie “the Beach” was filmed and a good place to go, you can book a trip at your hotel

.Phuket is a safe choice :) , for beach and night life. I personally prefer Krabi , but there is not much of night life there. Any way don’t worry, very hard to run out of things to do while in Thailand.

Don't over think it enjoy :D

Hua Hin is, indeed, a good choice, and you can always easily hop down to Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park for a day of light hiking and a dramatic beach.

:) After live in Hua Hin since 3 years I like precise; Hua Hin haven't fantastig beaches or you include the south behind Takiap Hill as Pran Buri and Kui Buri beaches but you need be mobile by motorcycle or car. In short: Hua Hin have his famous restaurants and shopping possibilities but very nice beaches are in Cha Am and to the south as mentionned :D - if not only beaches are request and you will be mobile, have a look in the National Parc of Kaeng Krachan with his large and nice lake (about 60 km travel / 1 hrs) ! it's ture because of missing more and more tourists you can get cheap hotels and possible to negotiate price. :D enjoy your trip

I'd spend a few days in Bkok, see the temples, weekend market (open during the week I believe) then go and relax in Ko Phanagan and maybe a few days in Ko Samui. Weather wise these islands are your best bet otherwise I'd suggest Phuket - and either Krabi or Ko Chang if you like things quieter. I'm not sure how old you are but if you are in your twenties or so then you'll likely enjoy the full moon party on Ko Phanagan as well as the quieter beach areas.

Have fun.
