1. Free tourist visa, two entry if you can get. One trip out to get the second 60 day stay.

2. Free tourist visa, single entry, extend 30 days, extend 7 days (using return ticket. Will cost 1,900 baht each extension.

3. Pay for non immigrant visa and extend 7 days as above.

Child should obtain Thai passport and use that for entry/exit. If not will require same visa as you on UK passport. Application has to be at Embassy.

Calm down, dmax. Tomorrow, give Hull and/or Cardiff a phone call. They accept applications by post, the embassy in London wants you to go there in person, I believe, and it looks like they are averse to answering emails, too.

CARDIFF THAI EMBASSY SAYS =

IMPORTANT NOTE:

OUR OFFICE HOURS ARE 9.00am TO 12.00pm MONDAY TO FRIDAY. PERSONAL APPLICATIONS MUST ARRIVE NO LATER THAN 11.30am FOR SAME DAY PROCESSING

* TOURIST VISA

* NON IMMIGRANT VISA

TOURIST VISA

This type of visa allows a stay of up to 60 days from the date of arrival, provided entry is made into the country WITHIN 90 days of the date of issue of the visa. A further 30 day extension of stay is possible on application to the immigration authorities in Thailand and upon payment of the current fee.

Double or more entries can be obtained, when the entry period is extended to 180 days, before the visa becomes invalid. Visitors have to leave Thailand at the end of the first and other permitted periods and then re-enter the country on subsequent entries.

e.g. A visitor arriving in Thailand is given 60 days. At the end of this period (or extension) the visitor must leave the country and use other entries by re-entering Thailand. On each occasion, entry has to be made before the cancellation date incorporated in the Visa, when issued.

NON IMMIGRANT VISA

This type of visa must be obtained by visitors to Thailand for purposes other than tourism and allows a stay of up to 90 days from the date of arrival.

When applying for this type of visa the usual documentation must be accompanied by a letter detailing the reason for the visit and an undertaking from the Company, Organisation etc., that they will be responsible for the applicant during their stay in Thailand and their eventual repatriation, should this be necessary.

This type of visa allows anyone employed to work in Thailand the opportunity of staying for up to 90 days whilst the employers obtain the necessary work permit for a longer period of residency, if this has not already been granted.

Any person married to a Thai national seeking a Non Immigrant Visa HAS to provide a copy of Marriage Certificate with the other required documentation.

A Multiple Entry Visa, valid for 12 months, is available to those travelling to Thailand on business or if the person is married to a Thai National.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

1. COMPLETED VISA APPLICATION FORM TO BE SUBMITTED WITH TWO RECENT PASSPORT SIZE PHOTOGRPHS

2. PASSPORT (FOR INCLUSION OF VISA)

3. SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION (NON IMMIGRANT VISA)

4. POSTAL APPLICATION – STAMPED ADDRESSED ENVELOPE FOR RETURN OF PASSPORT. (SUGGESTED METHOD – P.O. “GUARANTEED DELIVERY”)

5. APPROPRIATE FEE.

TRANSIT VISA - £17.00 PER ENTRY

TOURIST VISA - £28.00 PER ENTRY

NON-IMMIGRANT - SINGLE ENTRY - £45.00

- MULTIPLE - £100.00

Hope this helps

I recommend you contact the Consul in Hull, they offer a good and fast service unlike the Embassy.

Phone them up to check if you want - the number is : 01482 581668

The above quote is extension of stay information and has nothing to do with your situation. There is no need for using Hull as you have authorized reasons for a non immigrant visa issue at any location. But the tourist visa is free and if child does not obtain passport you will need two so that is my recommendation; unless you plan other trips within the year validity of a non immigrant O visa. If Londen near you I would visit Embassy and start passport paperwork for child at same time.

thanks lopburi so will i apply for the free tourist visa s for me and my baby daughter as he will not get her thai passport untill she reaches los....but i thought a free tourist visa was only valid for 30 days ???? we are going for 94 days in total....cheers

For Uk nationals a tourist visa is valid for 60 days and can be extended for 1,900 baht by another 30 days.

You are confused with a visa exempt entry, when you travel to Thailand without a visa. Then you would get 30 days at the airport.

great mario thanks....im applying for the free tourist visa for me and my daughter then,,so i get 60 days,,then we go to immagration,pay,1900 baht and get another 30 days,,,that gets us up to 90 days then we can head to border for 1 trip out then get 15 days stamp when we go in again...thats correct isnt it ? if anyone can verify this is correct please...

really appreciate some answers u guys have given me here , i wont ask anymore about it on here as i think its run long enough so i will just contact hull or the embassy....

You can do that or visit immigration again for a 7 day extension showing them your tickets out within the week if asked. But if in area of the border anytime within 15 days of your departure that might be the better option - as you could make it a trip.

ive got it sorted ,,just been on phone to consul in hull ...getting double entry tourist visa for myself and a tourist 30 day for my daughter then apply for her thai pasport whilst there,,,,but it was a long process trying to get through to consul or embassy...

thanks again

Your daughter will be overstay but there will be no charge imposed and you will not have to extend her 60 days. She will need to exit using her UK passport however as she entered with it and a passport switch on a land crossing is not advisable. But if you intend to fly, to Singapore or such at the end of your 60 day entry she could make the switch and avoid any overstay stamp. But the stamp is no big deal anyhow.

Applying for the passport might be a problem in thailand, as she would need to be on someone's household registration. You might find it easier in your case to apply in the UK for a Thai passport.

I was always under the impression that anybody entitled to a Thai passport had to apply in their country of birth, also my wife who is just back from Thailand added our son to her parents house book ( Born in the UK and has a Thai passport) but her sister couldn't add her daughter because her daughter didn't have a Thai passport and had entered Thailand on a 30 day visa exempt stamp, so does somebody have to have a visa or a Thai passport to be added to a house book or is a household registration not the same as a housebook?

Not sure about the answer, but you are probably right. It will at the least be easier to apply in the country of birth, as you have to apply for a Thai birth certificate, with the certificate of the country you are born in.

The problem was probably not having a Thai ID, ID-card or passport and not related to the visa itself. Some of our members, such as Samram, are very knowledgable in this field and can give you the right answer.

Household registration and house book are the same.
