You can go to Lumpinee Park for free, there can be thousand of monitor lizards in the pond.

Free? I am not into jumping fences, anyways it's only 65 baht for Farangs. :)

I don't think there are "thousands" but there are many.

Yes, it's free unless you: drop litter, spit, drink alcohol or smoke. Then it's 2000 Baht or a "Rarning" as I once received for leaving a piece of paper on a bench.

Anyway, the small lizards or "chit chats" are quite harmless and are more afraid of humans than we are of them. They do come into the house sometimes and usually die of starvation or dehydration.

Personally I prefer them to the ugly black spiders we had in Denmark.

I really hate lizards : .... and they moved on the walls ,floor, roof any where you can imagine, it was really disgusting ,
What I don't like is being woken up by large wolf spiders running across my chest. Has happened a few times.

Forget about lizards, it's the large hissing cockroaches and the occasional venomous centipedes that emerge from plumbing at night,

Sleep tight cupcake, :)

chit chats?

are you the fellow i saw at foodland the other day yelling at the staff in the fruit section for kuay yai?

back to the op:

perhaps the tropics are not for you, then, again, i have hard time believeing your concern is entirely genuine.

if you want to worry about something, worry about the fact that cockroaches here can fly.

You don't pay to go into Lumpini Park, of course if the girl on the gate asks, you can always buck the trend :D

Never yet been fined for having a quiet beer and I am not in the habit of leaving litter behind and yes the Monitors are rather large, as are the Bayawaks

:D

Gecko, geeeckooo, G-E-C-K-O. Not lizard... :)

You are talking about geckos, not lizards.

You do know that a Gecko is a lizard right ?

This Thai guy i know sometimes goes on about how if a Gekko lands on your skin there's no way to get it off.

You have to go to the hospital and have it surgically removed!

Here's a couple of shots from Khorat.

the first one is a forest crested lizard, not sure about the blue one.

I love the second photo of the one with spots. What a lovely looking creature, and the whole composition in nice and colourful.

We spent a large part of a day in Limpini a few years ago and saw dozens of monitors of various sizes. We eventually found one truly gargantuan specimen sleeping in one of the drain. It's torso was as wide as I am, and was probably over 6 feet in length with huge bulk. One of the gardeners told us he was the biggest in the park and rarely seen during the day. She also told us that whilst riding her bike along the path at night one of her colleagues had peddled straight into him and had a nasty accident. The monitor was unaffected.

Limpini is a wonderful park and well worth visiting, for his alone. It is also in my opinion one of the only truly clean places in Thailand, so if they have to fine people to maintain this is must be a good thing.

is there any tools or device that i can set in my apartment to keep these lizards away from myself ?

I know they are not dangerous but i don't like their shape the way they move some of them even sing at nights ! have you ever seen a lizard sing ?

and I think if i rent an apartment in 7-8 floor i should encounter less lizards rather than first or second floor

I cant sleep at night if i found out a lizard is above my bed on roof

one way ticket out of here is your only option they are part of thailand love them or hate them i doubt you will get rid of them even on the 20th floor

I stay onn the 25th floor, and last night I saw one at my balcony, but not yet one inside my appartment but I always cloe-se the screen door, but that bastards can even pass the smallest hole.

I am moving to Bangkok in the next month

I really hate lizards :S I would know is it common that in any part of city there are lots of lizards ?

Because 3 years ago i stayed in my friend home for a while, which was far from city center, and there were lots of lizards, and they moved on the walls ,floor, roof any where you can imagine, it was really disgusting , I would know is all part of Bangkok the same?, Lizards is something you accept and there are many of them in your home / room / ... ?

If you're that uptight about lizards or creepy crawlers of any type, than best assured you should remain in your Farangville.
