What Service Provider Is Best

Featured Replies

What is my best choice as far as service provider for a medium speed Internet connection?

The last dinosaur is finally dying out and I want to upgrading from dial-up to some sort of 512 kb/sec ADSL connection, preferable with WIFI if possible.

In terms of price and reliability is True still the way to go or are there other options?

NB: I live in Bangkok and already have a True (02....) phone line installed.

I use a business package from CSLOXINFO.

It is 512k. However it is expensive at 2,650 Baht per month.

But - it is stable and constant, no problems, no downtime, constant file download speeds (admittedly not so fast at around 50k per sec). I've had no problems really (over 1 year now) and it is always available. I share via Wi-Fi with a neighbour to keep cost down.

Speedtests show regular 400k+ speeds for surfing.

They also have 1MB and 2MB etc however those are even more expensive.

If you don't want to go through permanent frustration of having to call support all the time then avoid the regular commercial packages and get a business package, especially if you use regularly and rely on it.

Good luck

F.

I have 512/256 from KSC Commercial Internet, not cheap at 1900 Baht (discount if you pay 12 months up front).

It's been almost 100% reliable for 3 years giving the full 512k on international for all but the busiest times of day.

Are all the Computer Geeks on summer vacation?

Only 2 replys on what seem to be way over priced 512 kb/sec connections.

Anybody with True experience? What is the price for a 513 kb/sec connection?

True have several packages including a 512 kbps package for 599 baht per month. Check the link for more details.

I have had true 512/256 for a few years and no complaints. Upload was never very good but downloads always ran near full speed local or foreign. Last week the service started connecting at 3020/480 and in country speed it very close to that - external speed appears to be between 512 and 1000. Have not been advised of any change so not sure if a real change or an error. But they no longer seem to offer the old 512/256 service and now have domestic high speed and lower outside Thailand plans. I pay 802.50 with VAT.

KSC is part of True now I believe (or is it CAT? - I hope not). They folded last week.
