The BBC: A Persistent Magnet for Scandals

Southport Stabbing: Child Killed and Several Injured in Taylor Swift-Themed Workshop Attack
Is there really any need for anybody else to condemn the riots, every politician, community leader, religious leader and media spokesperson has done nothing else since the whole thing started, it has become farcical. Every single one of them, almost as if following some sort of officially sanctioned narrative, ( could you imagine that!) is laying the blame for all the unrest solely at the feet of the "far right" officially there is no other reason. Every single one of them refusing to discuss the real reasons why so many people are obviously so unhappy. Yes there probably are a few "far right" nutters involved in the disturbances but violent protest is in no way unique to those with right wing views. in fact the majority of these troublemakers will have no political affiliation at all, most are too thick to have an opinion, they are just opportunistic thugs who enjoy a bit of a punch up, and relish the chance to take on the police, nothing to do with politics at all. In their tiny minds, they are standing up for the the rest of us, the millions up on millions of people who are not happy at the way things are going with regards to immigration, the silent majority, who are not inclined to take to the streets at the drop of a hat to express their anger, normal people who for now are reluctant to break the law. But the problem is not going away, with the two main political parties refusing to enter into any constructive debate, on immigration , neither party to my knowledge having had any mention of it in their respective manifestos, and neither having any credible solution, most of the electorate are starting to wake up and realise that the democratic process has failed them on this matter. There is nothing they can do. It will take a while for it to fully register but when it does It will result in a either a huge swing to the reform party, or total civil unrest -

Ex-Pats targeted on Sky Train
These numbers are a lot more realistic. You noticed it's gross pensions, i.e. before taxes and health insurance? These vary a lot between countries. The picture says average gross is 1300 (in the text they write 1200), so net is not that much more than 1000 €/months, probably 1100-1200. I said "many" have less than 1000, I didn't say "most". And don't forget, many people don't get a pension at all.. There are many places in Europe where you can hardly subsist on 1200€. And that's where you really need old-age discounts. (Most important factor: do you own your place? Home ownership e.g. in southern Europe is traditionally quite high, in Germany, for example, quite low.) -

Woke Olympics proves the world really has gone (lady)Ga Ga.
They have XY chromosomes... They are not victims of culture wars - they are victims of genetics. Its sad for them, but their scientifically proven biological attributes place them outside of the limits within which female athlete can compete in a physical competition under fair and equal conditions. The IOC requirements are clearly shown up to be unfair and wrong - the IBA (International boxing association) tested both Algerian boxer Imane Khelif and Lin Yu-ting of Taiwan and disqualified them for having XY (male) chromosomes instead of XX (female). Sadly, for both athletes in question, sport is binary - Male / Female... and these women fall within a grey area where their gender and resulting 'additional' power places them in a 'physical grey area'. This is one of those examples where 'life is tough' - but its also unfair on all other female athletes to have to fight against them. There is no perfect, fits in a neat little box type of answer. Its being turned into a 'trans issues' which it is not - its a fairness issue - both Algerian boxer Imane Khelif and Lin Yu-ting of Taiwan fall outside of the guidelines through not fault of the own, but just as someone who has taken performance enhancing drugs, they are at an advantage which is unfair - unfair to them too that they cannot complete, or, unfair to those they compete against, when permitted to. I have a feeling that Jing simply wants to 'carry the flag' for these athletes because he is gay... his sole bias is supporting any alienated 'sexual minority'... but this is not about Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay, Queer, Trans boxers - its about a Female boxer(s) whose genetics place them within a gender 'grey area' and at an unfair advantage. Its tough - but life is imperfect. -

Completely disheartened Canadian seeking advice to bring Thai gf or wife to Canada
This is one of those horrible conundrums. I'm American, and as hard a pill for a Canadian to swallow we ain't much different. I tried to get a tourist visa for my then gf, after my daughter had a baby. Professional woman, we owned a house, of course she was denied. Years later when we decided to legally marry and move back to the US with her as an immigrant, nothing had fundamentally changed, but it sailed though. Trouble is collectively Thai woman have created the problem. Even in my Thai wife's little circle of friends here in South Dakota, only her and one other lady arrived as legal immigrants. All the rest overstayed on tourist visas, then ended up getting married and applying for adjustment of status. I understand your frustration, I was mad as Hell when my wife got denied a tourist visa. But looking back at it now, I kinda see the dilemma of a CO trying to assess an application, knowing the track record of Thai women, especially young women -
