Tiger back to Krabi with cheap fees

By John Le Fevre

SINGAPORE (thaivisa.com): -- Singapore’s budget airline, Tiger Airways, will resume flights to the Thai resort of Krabi four times a week from the end of October.

Tickets will go on sale as from next Tuesday for flights commencing October 25th, with one way fares starting at $S20 (about $US13.80), excluding airport taxes and charges.

Tiger, which already flies from Singapore to Phuket and from Singapore to Bangkok, will be the only airline flying the Singapore to Krabi route, with the new destination being the fifth addition to the airline’s network this year.

Tiger began operating the Singapore to Krabi sector in 2005 but stopped flights in March last year claiming a 37 per cent increase in handling fee by Krabi Airport’s sole ground-handler had made the service uneconomical.

The new service will be operated by an Airbus A320, with Centara Hotels and Resorts viewing the reinstated service as a “huge opportunity” for developing the destination as a Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events (Mice) destination.

According to Rosalynn Tay, managing director, Tiger Airways Singapore, Krabi has always been a popular destination for holiday makers and since the airline stopped servicing the route it has received numerous requests to reinstate it.

“We are working closely with the local tourism and hospitality industries in Thailand to ensure that the start of the popular low fares service of Tiger Airways will have a huge impact on the number of visitors to Krabi,” she said.

:D any thai air services beats any foreign services even if it costs a little bit more... :D

Well its operated by Singapore Airlines which is probably the best in the world for service. I don't see Thai beating them on price or service any time soon.

Why would you fly an inferior thai airline?

Mind you who wants to go to Singapore.... :)

I once had a cat but unforunately his name wasn't Tigger.
