Blinky Bill
At 12.34 and 56 seconds tomorrow, Friday 7 August 2009, clocks in the real world (ie, non-USA) will give a combined reading of 12:34:56 7/8/9. As far as I can tell, this won't happen again for 100 years. (Our cousins in USA choose to put months before days - so they don't count when we're talking about "real" stuff!) For those who can't see the significance here, try 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9.

Off the top of my head, I would say it will happen again in 7 years........... and maybe more often depending upon where you are. Since you are using only the year's last digit, what about 7 years from now when it is 2559? EDITED TO ASK: Or don't you consider this part of the real world, too? caf
The Herald Sun reports:- At exactly 56 seconds past 12.34pm today, the digital time will be 12.34.56-7/8/9. Miss the numerical nuance and it won't come again for another 81 years. Seppos can ignore the event as the article goes on to explain:- ....In the US, where they write months and days the wrong way around, the magic moment came on July 8... Probably the same reason they spell differently. pronounce words differently and drive on the wrong side of the road. It's a way to gauge the spread of there insidious culture.
