This forum has been more helpful to me inpast than doctors so I try again. my wife has pains in stomach after she eats. She went to clinic and doctor just pushes on her stomach and says "infection in intestine' and prescribes anit-biotic and pain pills. It has only been 3 days of medication but she is no better. I know perhaps it takes longer for pills to work, but isn't it important to do test first before saying it is infection? Thank you

What is the age of your wife?

Pain after eating could be a sign of stomach ulcer.

Is she taking any other tablets which might have caused this? Such as long-term use of NSAID's?

How bad is the actual pain? Is is a gnawing pain or an acute sharp pain?

Any other symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, weight loss?

Definitely more info needed.

Take an anti-ulcer or go see another real doctor.

If it is an ulcer (and we don't know for sure) then treatment by antibiotic + proton pump might be needed if it is H.Pylori infection.

It is like gnawing pain but no nausea or vomiting or weight loss. Thank you all for help.

Then it sounds like a possible ulcer. Visit another Doctor and suggest stomach ulcer & get the right medications.

If wife is aged 50 + then exploratory hospital tests should be recommended.

OP...instead of getting amataur medical advice from people on TV, who based on a few lines are making diagnosis...get her into a Hospital to get checked...you have took her to a Clinic and are not happy with the service you have received..so go and do what you would do where ever you have come from....get a second opinion from a qualifed doctor...not some Dr Kildare wannbe on TV

Also very irresponsible of some TV posters to start suggesting and advising people to take certain medication for a complaint which is as yet un-diagnosed...

Does sound quite possible for ulcer or gastritis. One way to test is a trial of a PPI like omeprazole (readily available OTC), if it relives the symptoms then you know you are on right track, but then do indeed need to consider possible h.pylori

A GI specialist will test for h.pylori altho may need to request it. The average Thai clinic/doctor will simply treat with a PPI, or empirically treat for h.pylori without testing for it

If no relief from a PPI then a deeper investigation is warranted to rule out more serious problem
