The Vulcan
http://www.photographybay.com/2009/08/06/panasonic-gf1/ If it comes with an EVF this will be perfect
tw25rw
Would be a good body to attach to old SLR lenses, but I think leaving the evf out is a mistake.
Nordlys
If it comes with an EVF this will be perfect Looks nice. It looks like it has a slot to insert the EVF terminal right underneath the hot shoe like Ricoh GX100/200.
The Vulcan
Would be a good body to attach to old SLR lenses, but I think leaving the evf out is a mistake. Rumour has it that it will accomodate the Leica M mount which will be awesome if proven. 12 megapixels and Leica lenses . Cheap (ish) way to compete with the M8 (.2) stuff. Big rumour also that follwing the S2 launch (shocking price with body only at c.$20K and lenses average at $5K each) that a FF 16megapixel M9 is due. tw25rw
It has the same lens mount as the Olympus EP-1 so should be able to take old Zuikos as well as 4/3s with and adaptor. I bet before long we'll see Canon and Nikon bringing out rival mini formats to challenge mft..
carlbraun
Would be a good body to attach to old SLR lenses, but I think leaving the evf out is a mistake. In this case the body would be bigger..., the EVF is an option or you can choose the GH1

hughden
Now reviewed by Dpreview: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/PanasonicGF1/ Sounds good, Panasonic are producing some interesting cameras nowadays. I am besotted with my LX3.
The Vulcan
The best price I can see at the moment is $1,100 for the body, 20mm and EVF These are the prices for the rest of the kit:- 45/2.8 Macro (Pana-Leica) $879 14-140 $799 That would be $2,778 for the full kit. (P+P extra) Seems a lot of money for a compact P+S Think I'll stick with my 5D Mk1
hughden
It's a bit more than a P&S (at a lot more than a P&S price!). Using the F1.7 lens, it would make a great walk-around camera with good image quality. Unfortunately I am saving for the 1D Mk 4 which should be announced next week! Actually it's likened to a rangefinder camera with the Contax G2 being the comparison. That should be an eye opener for those that have never used an RF. Different shooting technique altogether
albhol
Is there a german menu language in the thaiversion of the Panasonic GF1? The Vulcan
Panasonic GF1 with Carl Zeiss G 45mm F2 lens via MFT adapter. Shot wide open @ ISO 100 Second image is a 100% crop Awesome rendition, contrast and highlight control No artistic intent - just IQ test
AndyM
I posted these in another section of the forum. I usually travel to Thailand with a heavy Canon 1Ds mk3 and arsenal of heavy Canon 'L' lenses, but this time have travelled with only a GF1 and 20mm f1.7 Pancake, and a 14-45mm for video. Pretty impressed with the little camera so far (Taken in Pai, Chiang Mai, Lampang and Krungthep) More of my photos taken with the GF1 can be seen on Flickr

hughden
GF1 with 14-45 lens ISO 200 Shot in Dynamic Black and White mode. Shared it with The Vulcan who did some tweaks and made it look even better.
The Vulcan
I was disappointed with myself after this shot. I've destroyed the "rule of thirds" and it's left the image weak Conversely, the IQ and rendition from this Panny 20mm is awesome (IMHO)
eurasianthai
You pushed the sharpness and the contrast quite a lot, which I like. But you missed her hand...
