Hi,

I was just wondering

(sorry if this has been answered before, haven't been able to find it if it has).

Would I need to get a work permit and even a res visa if I was running a graphic design studio from home

and I was the ony employee?

I plan on moving to Koh Samui.

Thanks in advance.

Take it easy.

I think you've answered the question yourself :)

The subject of "remote working" has come up on here ad infinitum. Get a WP and pay taxes and be legit. Or fly under the radar and keep schtum...Up to you :D

For working in Thailand you need a work permit and for that you need to establish a company, even if you only work over the internet for clients outside of Thailand.

You can't work in Thailand without a work permit, you'd need a Ltd company and 4 Thai staff, any other way is a big risk if you get caught its jail fines and deportation. Apply for a job better.

Would be easier if you are over fifty and have a retirement visa

Are you kidding? :) I'd do some homework on that notion

Exactly. You'd need a NonB visa as you cannot obtain WP on retirement visa.
