Hi there

I'm just doing a bit of research here and wondering if you could all help me out.

If you are in transit in Bkk waiting for the next flight and you have long hours to wait or perhaps needs to stay in Bkk overnight cause your flight leaves early the next morning, would you rather stay at the hotel near an airport or would you rather go to city centre and come back for the flight in the morning?

And if you decided to stay at the hotel near the airport, would you rather stay at a budget guesthouse with shared facilities or a full serviced hotel?

All answers are greatly appreciated, thank you very much

Silver Gold Garden hotel is only a 10 min drive away, 900 baht single or double when booked their website - http://www.silvergoldgarden.com/ They also provide free pick ups both ways - the only hotel nearby to do both ways for free!

Hi, has anybody stayed at the above hotel, if so was it any good ?

I need a hotel for the 9th September for one night, previously I have stayed at the Convenient Resort and the Queen's Garden Resort, which were both okay for the money. Always looking for a hidden gem.

Thanks for the link knocka.

Best Regards :)

I have an overnight pass-through of Suvarnabum (UK to Ubon) coming up, so might try it out on 3rd September. If nobody else replies I'll post here. I would be surprised if it needs a long-in-advance booking if you can wait that long

Hi, thanks for the offer, I found the hotel on agoda.com there are plenty of reviews posted about the hotel.

On the whole the reviews are fairly postive, think I will give it a try.

Thanks again

I have stayed several times at Silver Gold Garden. I booked through ratestogo each time as the price was less than booking direct with the hotel. The free airport pick-up and drop off is very good, only one time did I have to wait for the van, and that was only about 10 minutes. The hotel is new and clean but no elevator, so get a low floor. There is nothing else in the area except a Tesco Express, a 7-11 and a small Thai market out front of the hotel.

There are several very helpful/detailed earlier threads on this topic, so try a forum search for more info (keywords = airport hotel accommodation).

There is also a pinned thread on this topic in the Suv. airport forum

Did stay there as pressaged in early September. A good choice - clean and convenient. I waited about 15 mins for the van at airport but that's ok. Cost 730 baht. The hotel restaurant served ok basic thai fare (and falang food but not tried) also.

Worth noting that van coming back to the airport works on an hourly schedule (on the half hour) and if you want to go at other times they will run it for 150 baht. I am a cheap charlie so decided a 6.30 van would get me to my Air Asia 7:25 flight. It did, but when we arrived at the desk at 6:47, AA said that our luggage might have to follow along one day later (luckily it found its way onto the flight).
