Dave the Dude
Hi Yes, I have used the search function but would be grateful for some first-hand advice on the following..... 1) Is it right both buyer & seller has to prove where they reside? 2) I have carefully checked existing green book (P18) and understand it may be substituted for a new book. Any guidance would be apreciated to ensure new book is legit. 3) The bike is a non-runner! Do I have to take it to Transport Office or better to deal with Tf when its running and can be checked over(if required???) I am expecting to escort the seller to his local Dept of Transport and both need to have passports available, I have a Yellow House book, so thats good ID for me. Your advice will be appreciated Dave
LivinLOS
The buyer must show residential address if farang, and the seller need not, if farang.. Unsure if the tabien baan is needed for a Thai seller like it is for a Thai buyer. Thats Phuket and I am guessing this changes like the wind !! 2) photocopy all the pages in the book.. If yo get a new book issues by the DMV check it is the same info, that they dont 'forget' to move page 18 info and if they do force them to move it with the copies. New books generate suspicion, old books are preffered if they dont have a date when the engine / color / etc all change at the same time 3) Yes all bikes must go to the DMV office. Even non runners. They can refuse to transfer the bike if its not roadworthy (bent / mangled / lights / etc) but I dont think it has to run. No basis in law for that guess just how I have seen them process. Emission if older than 5 years In some provinces, like PrechuapKK, also farang seller needs certificate of residence.
