In April my Thai wife and I are returning for Songkran and the plan is to obtain a tourist visa for my mother in law so she can visit us here in Washington State. Can anyone help me understand the process, the cost, and the time involved plus I would like to know if there is a limit to her stay. We plan to have her here 6 weeks or so. I am 61 and self employed, my wife is 35 and my mother in law is 55. She has 2 other children and 6 grand children living in Thailand and she owns land as well. The house chanote is held by the bank for loans taken on it but she holds the land chanote herself. I pay income to her via my brother in law and I assume they have records of regular wire transfers from America.

Many thanks. You can email me direct at [email protected].

Same subject being covered in 5 threads down form this one. Also: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Tourist-Visa-t280839.html

I can't help but remark that your mother in law is younger than you... it's not a decisive factor but the stiff-necks at the Embassy may very well put you in a category we're all aware of. If you have the funds, it may help to get mom out traveling a bit so they know she has a precedent for return to Thailand.
