March 9, 200521 yr My Thai wife, her son and mom, headed for the Italian Embassy today from Chiang Mai seeking visas for a family reunion with family living near Milan. This will be my wife's third visit there so she pretty much knew the drill. However, when she got there today the sucurity guards refused to let her in because she DIDN'T HAVE AN APPOINTMENT. Excuse me? There's nothing on their website, nothing on their recording and the staff she spoke with two weeks ago never warned her that the rules had changed. My wife's not the only one turned away today as none of the other folks seeking visas knew about the change in rules. This doesn't even fit into rule number 1, TIT. The Italian embassy staff should have sorted this all out before they changed the rules.
