One-way Ticket With Non-immigrant 90 Day Visa?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am thinking of applying for a non-immigrant 90 day visa from the Honorary General Consul of the Kingdom of Thailand in Munich, but this is dependent on whether or not I can fly with a one-way ticket on this visa.

This post from Lite Beer would seem to indicate that the answer is yes?

I intend (later, in Thailand) to apply for a retirement extension. Over 50 and British.

Here is a link to the application form, which shows the above-mentioned visa as the best Munich will issue.

I don't want to get involved with Frankfurt, if I can avoid it (been there, lived there, and they never do anything on just one visit).

Would appreciate advice or suggestions, refutations, whatever. Thanks!

I got such a visa in the US, single entry O visa. At the airport, the airline clerk was OK with the visa. However, the consulate that issued the visa would not issue the visa without a stated itinerary and a ticket out of Thailand before 90 days in Thailand. Thus I would say if you can get the visa without the ticket out, you are probably OK to board the plane.

Thanks, Jingers, old chap.

Indeed the application form mentions return ticket or passage confirmation (wossat?).

What I did was supply them evidence of a one way ticket to Malaysia leaving before the 90 days in Thailand expired (based on my stated itinerary). I know it is silly but I just did it and threw away the ticket.

Imitation being sincere flattery, I shall probably do that.

Thanks again.

There are many reports of the Thai consulate in Stuttgart having a reputation for being helpful. Click here for details Don't know about Munich. Obtain a single entry Non-O visa. You will get a 90 day permission to stay stamp on arrival in Thailand. During the last 30 days of your permission to stay you will need to apply for a 12 month extension based on retirement, financial requirements being 800k in thai bank OR 65k pension/income per month OR a combination of the two. If you plan to travel after you have obtained your extension of stay you will need to obtain a re-entry permit (1000 baht single entry, 3800 multi entry) to keep your extension of stay alive.

You should have no problem at the airport flying on a single ticket as long as you have a valid visa.

Thanks, no travel plans, apart from J's throwaway ticket :)

This forum is the dog's bollx!

Before you buy the onward ticket check with the consulate in Munich they probably won't require the ticket to issue the visa.

If you have any type of visa you can fly on a one way ticket - it is stated in the IATA database that the airlines use for checking. Some Consulates do require a ticket to issue a visa but normally this is enforced for third country nationals more often than for those of the country involved.

I am British, in Munich; does that make me a third country national?

Annoyingly the Thais here want to speak German rather than English, and my German isn't good enough to understand a Thai on the 'phone. The consulate has no email address and is only open weekday mornings, and I am reluctant to use up holiday days unnecessarily.

At the top left of the RTCG application form they list "return ticket or passage confirmation" amongst other requirements.

An Air Asia one way ticket BKK to Penang would be 1,650 Baht. Know anything cheaper? :)

At present it's forward planning. I have to work until end January.

I appreciate the input; many thanks.

Munich is an honorary consulate. I doubt very much they will ask for a ticket.

Thanks, I'll give it a try nearer to the date.

I will post the results then.
