I have only ever been in the Maharaj trauma center once, with an obvious emergency. I was probably on ritalin (Rubifen,a stimulant) when I arrived, not on blood thinner. I got no pain medicine until the anesthetist or anasthesiologist at Ram prepped me for the operation. Big trauma centers at public hospitals are a zoo sometimes. Both times I had a stroke, I skipped the trauma center and got seen at Sripat by a specialist, promptly. Our experiences differ.

What do police fines have to do with anything?

Agreed, Patriciachas, Nothing. He is trying to fog the issue.

What has mileage to do with medical costs in Chiangmai

:D

On second thought let me revise my opinion, you need the best help money can buy. :)

What gets me are the people that spend 5,000 baht to obtain the various estimates when gasoline, time and other factors are considered and then complain cause one facility is 5,000 baht more expensive than the other.

5000 baht to get a quote????

I was thinking the same thing. No one spends anywhere close to that to be quoted prices. That's ludicrous. You can be quoted for free by telephone and/or email. Come on...

Not that I agree with caf, but my guess is that he meant the expensive of gathering the information. If he valued his time at 500baht an hour and he spent 6 hours going around the local hospital to get quotes then the time factor cost him 3000baht plus the added expense of gas, wear and tear of himself and vehicle and "other factors".

You actually give me my point.

If he values his time at such a high rate then, considering his health is at stake, seeking quotes and treatment and procedure details would actually be very productive. Could gain more than his 6000 baht.

Pick the wrong hospital or specialist and going to the highest price first option may turn out not to be so wise in the long run . Emergencies excepted, I would rather spend some time getting it right

Actually I made a mistake and I was referring to mouse's message. But I would agree with you caf. I don't work and if I had the luxury of time to do the research, I would rather pay myself 500baht an hour to find the best and lower cost medical solution than a hospital.
