Anyone heard about the big-name local language school that recently fired all its top brass staff. Every one of whom was caught red-handed with their trotters in the cash register?

To add insult to injury, they, (Thai of course) were on about B 200,000 per month each, while paying the cannon fodder workadaddies a miserable B 180 a lesson.

Too much is never enough.....

Oh, well if its not common knowledge - never mind. I don't want to embarrass anyone

Why not? Go on tell us which one it was. ECC, Siam Comp? My guess would be ELT, a crap school with a bloody idiot at the helm.

Who the @#$% would work for 180 Baht a lesson? Even 180 Baht an hour is pitiful slag. I was making 350 Baht an hour ten years ago :o . Give me a break.

Neeranam, who is running ELT now? There used to be two companies calling themselves ELT... One was ELT International, and one was ELT Phuket, which had offices and schools in Phuket, Nonthaburi, Bkk, and Trang. It was owned by two nutty sisters. I think their main Bkk office is in the Lard Prao area, last I heard a few years ago. Both were originally franchises of ELT in the UK. The woman who ran ELT International was also a nutter, but not in a more funny way like the sisters... I stayed clear of her operation.

I'm waaay out of the Bkk schools loop anymore, including the juicy gossip, but I wouldn't mind any updates you'd care to pass along... :o

I was earning 500 baht for corporate jobs 10 years ago. 500 baht then was a lot more than it is these days.

ELS, the US company that had a couple of schools at Victory Monument and Ramkhamhaeng, was taken over by some Thais. K.Manoch was one of these guys. This company became ELC, which is OK now according to my friend who worked there recently. Manoch had to leave ELC, or was kicked out for various things. He set up ELT which has quite a few branches that I have seen upcountry. The guy is a creep, but he has got some VERY powerful contacts. I believe the main office is near Chong Nonsi BTS now. He hires a lot of guys with no experience, which is fair enough, but doesn't give any training. I have heard some very bad reports about this school.

As for the ELT run by two sisters, I don't know, not the same one. I too am out of the Bkk scholl scene. 9 years or so was enough.

Hi!

I'm new to posting on this board, but I've been reading it for ages.

I heard the very same story at the weekend. I'm not sure I can mention the name of the school for legal reasons, but it begins with a <and what part of 'no real need to name them' didn't you understand? KK>

ALLEGEDLY!!

keep up the good work and I hope the info was useful.

Apologies to KK for my inappropriate response. I had failed to notice there was a page 2 and therefore did not see your message. I did not realise you (kk) were the Moderator for this board.

Thank you for editing my message. I certainly wouldn't want to get anyone into trouble. Although, technically I didn't name the school. It won't happen again.

P.S. As a new member I would like to thank you for your warm welcome!!
