I was in the Mukdahan office yesterday, 4th Sept. I live in Roi Et and was told not to return there for my retirement extension but to go to a new office in Amnat Charoen! It seems that from Sept 7th this new office will be open and Mukdahan will no longer provide a service for people from Roi Et. The Mukdahan people had no information about the new office except to say that it would probably be set up in the police station until permanent offices were found. They did not ha ve a phone number for the new office. Who knows whether this will actually happen, but it's probably worth a call to Mukdahan berfore making the journey there!

Sure seems like someone higher up with Immg. has been very busy.... Strong Rumors of new office in Khon Kaen, and possibly Sakhon Nakhon, and now Roi Et people to Amnat Charoen...

Living in Kalasin, I am really hoping that they use some logic in the assignments for the new offices.... When they took us away from Mukdahan and had us Kalasin residents drive an extra hour to Nakhon Phanom it was a real pain in the butt,,,.... Hopefully the new Khon Kaen office (when openned) will service us, making it only an hour each way....

It does seem strange that nobody can give out

the correct information to one another. Surely, if

they are starting an office in Amnat Charoen, someone

must know where it is. The immigration service really

needs to get itself sorted out.

Amnat Charoen police station told us over the phone this morning (11th Sept) that the immigration people had been to check out the place but not yet set up an office. We (the wife) then called Mukdahan immigration who said they will continue to serve Roi Et people for the time being. They were very apologetic for all the confusion. (I've only been there a couple of times but have always found the Mukdahan immigration offcie staff to be very pleasant.)

Today, 10 Oct 2009, Amnat Immigration, also responsible for Roi Et and Yasothon, has its office on the top (4th) floor (former exercise room) of the Provincial Police Station, accessible from the right staircase behind the phone booths.
