I notice there seem to be a lot of members who have served or are serving with a variety of "Special Forces". These can include The CIA, Delta Force, Seal Team 6, the SAS, the SBS, the SASR, the DEA etc.

Activities and specialist skills seem to cover 'undercover work', 'covert ops', 'black ops', 'wetwork', 'martial arts', 'specialist weapon training', 'training the Thai police and military' (surprisingly), 'vigilante work', etc.

There seem to be sufficient numbers of these people to create a critical mass large enough to have their own sub-forum. What does anyone think of this idea?

What makes you think they don't? :)

Mmmm. Just makes me think of all those 500 kilo jellybellies smashed out their heads in some cheap bar who claim to be ex-mercenaries, DEA, CIA.....

Thanks for the laugh

Next time you meet a guy who claims to be with the SAS just say "Really? I fly with them all the time. Great airline. Are you a flight attendant?"

For years, in the US, all these wanna be's would claim to be SEALS.  I think I have personally met more of them than the actual total of all men who have served in the SEALS since they formed in 1963!  :)

Now, the newest wanna be tactic is reportedly being a Marine sniper.  But just like the so-called SEALS who never even bothered to learn what the school is named (BUD/S, not "SEAL School") or any aspect about being a SEAL, these "Marine snipers" don't even bother to learn what weapon a real sniper uses.

I remember a few years back in Angel Witch in Nana Plaza, I was sat to a guy who told me he used to work for DARPA (a secret R&D section of the US Defense Dept)... he was the only one left of his group... the others having been 'silenced' as they knew too much.

He was thoroughly believable and I enjoyed his stories no end. I hope people like him can get their own sub forum - would make for excellent reading me thinks.

lol... that would put things in perspective... must be a tough choice for some of these guys to either be spec ops or multi millionaire... guess it depends how many drinks they have had...

Anyone else out there a 007 besides me? :D

Sadly, my duties at NASA kept me too busy to get involved. :)

We could have used you for Moonraker.

We have Moonrakers here on Thai Visa, but he is more into Special Tractors.

When I was at BUD/S, we called it SEAL school....so don't jump to conclusions.

(Edit because I forgot how Bonobo spelled "BUDS")

Ha you would of thought they would have already captured taksin, what with all the years of experience in covert operations, or at the very least figured out a way not to get ripped off everywhere they go. But i guess some of these thai street vendors are really thai secret agents bent on making them bankrupt 5 baht t a time :):D :D
