Hi there,

i'm goiing to stay long time in Bangkok, how do i do this for my work, they want to pay me out half-time, because i can work from every where, just need computer and internet. What do i need te request in thailand to be legal with everything? Or is this impossible to do? I have now a non-immigrant passport -o (long stay-multiple entry).

Kind regards,

Geert

Really depends on where you intend to pay tax?

To be legal you need a work permit. Is the company you work for a Thai company? Otherwise you might have to establish a company and then apply for a work permit. Difficult but not impossible. There have been previous threads in Thaivisa from people in the same/similar position to you - worth reading if you can locate them (with the forum search facility).

If you choose to fly under the radar then it becomes a question of judging how likely it is that you will be detected. This will depend on how many know what you are doing, whether you annoy anyone, etc etc.

Er..............nowhere !

It is a toss up. The reality is that you won't be found but you could be grassed up. You have to work out how public you make it known that you actually work. You could get a work around legally but I doubt you want the hassle or the cost.

You'll have to make your own judgements. I don't think you've much to worry about but if you ended up with an upset ex girlfriend, then she may know enough to cause you problems.

Over time, people will ask you what you do for money. You are going to have to have some story or remain friendless. Better to get a simple story off pat. Manage my own investments would cover much of your computer time.
