Thai tennis star launches new herbal Viagra

(philstar.com) Updated August 26, 2009 06:04 PM

BANGKOK (AP) -- Thai tennis star Paradorn Srichaphan has launched a new product billed as a natural alternative to Viagra.

Yes, he uses it — twice a week. No, it doesn't mean his two-year marriage to former Miss Universe Natalie Glebova from Canada is faltering.

"If you ask me, 'Paradorn, do you need to use this kind of medicine,' I would say no. But when I do use it, I feel a lot healthier," he said in a telephone interview Wednesday. "My marriage is going really well."

The product, Majic Iris, is a supplement that contains ginseng, oysters and black galangal, which resembles ginger and is believed in Thailand to act as a stimulant. The product is only available in Thailand from his company, Magic Thai Herbs by Paradorn.

The 30-year-old Paradorn hasn't played professional tennis since March 2007 due to a wrist injury. He is the highest-ranked player in Thai history and was once No. 9 in the world.

Paradorn said his wrist is "getting a lot better but isn't good enough to play tournaments." He's trying his hand at business in the meantime. He recently opened an Italian restaurant in Bangkok and is opening a tennis academy in the Thai capital next week.

The herbal supplement has existed for several years but under a poorly marketed Thai brand, which Paradorn said he bought and re-branded and repackaged.

His target customers are "married men who are struggling with sex and want to freshen things up," and single men who "like to party." But he says the supplement has benefits beyond the Viagra market.

"The main point is that it helps you feel stronger and gives you more energy in general," Paradorn said, adding that he also plans to launch a supplement for women.

*****end :)

I did see a photo in The Nation, but forgot to copy and paste it :D

Yours truly,

Kan Win :D

P.S. If this has been posted already in our Health Forum please do the needful :D

Could it possible Sir Kan Win, to organize a few dozen samples to be tested by senior members with more than 4.250 posts ? :D

We could "feed" Khun Paradorn Srichaphan, as well as his Lady Khun Natalie Glebova, with the results of our test. I'm sure our experience would boost his sales, no doubt!

Thai will believe Farang results, I'm sure. :)

The HONOUR of the 1st try-out goes, of course, to Sir Kan Win; the very first sample will probably handed to you by Khun Natalie Glebova herself; obviously we need a nice photo of the event....

Whatever the results I will give you the highest possible rating :D

2 unrelated points.

It must be bloody expensive to keep a Miss Universe in the style to which she is accustomed particularly when you are only a top 100 pro tennis player whose career is in terminal decline.

Every Thai PhD chemistry and biochemisty doctor (I repeated myself there) I have met in my line of work and I have met a few has 'developed' and, in conjunction with some business friend, has marketed some kind of face cream or skin cream or gel or balm or relatively risk-free non-injected 'medicine'. Every non-Thai PhD chemistry and biochemisty doctor (repeating again) I have met has not done this. This herbal Viagra seems to be a variation on a well-tried and tested Thai theme to make a few bucks. I guarantee there will be some dubious 'doctor' behind it, Paradorn being part of the marketing strategy.

Great response Mr Toad. :D

Let's see...tennis (multibillion dollar game worldwide) + Thai tennis star (low ranking but nonetheless) + some smart bugger who recognises that not all Thai <insert word for male genitalia here> can "stand up" to the challenge = a truck load of profit from idiots whose <insert correct word here> are much smaller than their wallets.

The Thais have been watching too much American TV (those moronic "infomercials" etc).

Thank you for my morning laugh you guys. :D With all the pharmaceutical ads on the Sports television shows I watch this one should be a beauty.

If it doesn't stimulate either blood flow to the groin or testosterone production, it's probably quackery. I'm always suspicious of anything containing ginseng that's being touted as some "novel stimulant."

But the oyster content (rich in zinc) is likely what gives it it's oomph. I used to get the same effect by eating squid, too, but not so much anymore. I personally take a small amount of zinc gluconate every day along with a lecithin capsule (to maintain good seminal volume) and either tribulus or a small amount of DHEA to stimulate testosterone production.

Also, some mucuna pruriens daily without fail for that nice dopamine boost (the "pleasure chemical" ).

I also have some yohimbe but limit its use to about once a week or so as it is too much for my system to take all the time now. I still get the desired prurient "itch" from it but only slightly now. It mostly just raises my blood pressure and gives me a slight headache a few hours later. But, it's my opinion yohimbe may, in fact, have anti-fungal properties which is why it will tend to inflame persistent fungal infections at first, but then later on cause then to be alleviated. I had a mild but stubborn case of jock itch as well as some mild facial fungal infections that hung on for years, and after a few months of the yohimbe they were finally gone. A nice "side-effect" for a change...

Your truly,

Kan Win :D

1. My personal choice for sending the Lady with the samples to you, Sir Kan Win, would be the Lady on the right :)

2. The product in the translation :D is called Magic Iris but on the photo it says: Majic Iris.... :D

3. Do you have a list already with members who are willing to test the product ? :D So far I count only you, Dr. Pat_Pong, myself.....?

Just goes to show, even when you're talking about Miss Universe, there's going to some dude who's bored and tired of waking up next to her.

:D

Heng, I'm guessing the waking is a misspelling considering Ball's wrist injury. :)

Just read on the other newsrag that Paradon and Natalie have announced their separation. It was only a question of "when" and not "if". :(

I have seen her a few times on Thonglor, absolutely stunning.

Yeah I was too tight to pay for a taxi from my place to hers. She can walk. Do her the world of good.

There she was banging on my door all night crying when I was trying to sleep. I still wouldn't let her out. :D

A man in his thirties or fourties shouldn't NEED a stimulant. There are many every day food items in every market that will provide all the necessary vitamins and minerals the body needs. Only people with Crones disease, or other related diseases should need pill supplements.
