Phang-Nga police were called in to search and inspect a new Fortuna car with a temporary number plate, left at a petrol station in Phang Nga Town. After dusting it for fingerprints, police found torches, a can of beer, cloth bags and blood on the rear of the driver's seat. Staff of the petrol station said the vehicle was left unattended for 3 days before police were notified. The new vehicle reportedly belongs to Aong Sa-Nguanporn who runs a rental car company in Patong as she received a mysterious phone call and proceeded to visit the scene. She confirmed that the car belonged to her and that she had rented it out to a British tourist named as stated in his passport as Stone Brown. She said her client agreed to rent the car at 1,800 baht per day for three days and had paid 5,400 baht to her. He was due to return it on September 7th. Mrs. Anong told police that on September 8th she received a phone call from a Thai man who claimed that he was hired by the British national as a driver and told Anong to go get her car at Rajapruek petrol station in Phang-Nga. She then rushed there, but reported to police to come along as the call was suspicious. She said she was told by a man on the phone that the tourist had gone to Bangkok with the key. Police wait to hear from Mr. Brown as they are concerned that he may be in jeopardy.
