I have just been to the new Immigration Office ( Dor Mor ) in Khon Kaen. It's located in the Police School on Mittraparp Highway just past the main entrance to Khon Kaen University on the right hand side. There are no signs as yet only one in Thai for the Police School. It has only just opened and won't be fully operational until next month. ( never certain ) As they don't have any stamps at present they can only do 90 day reporting check in's. Bring your own forms a TM 47 as they don't have any. I think they can be printed off the Immigration website.

Also an office due to open in Udon Thani soon Iv'e heard.

23rd September .. Did my 90 day reporting there no problems .. I printed out an old NK (blanking out the NK "written at" stamp top r/hand corner) TM 47 .. filled it out before going there .. job done !

The policeman on the gate knew where the office was .. thru the gate 50m to car park on the left/building on the right .. It looks closed but there is a "reception" office on the ground floor directly under the large concrete staircase .. it was staffed by one out of uniform/very pleasant lady officer, she "clocked" me in,it took a maximum of 5mins.

She was very uncertain about when they would be fully open "hoping for October" , her boss, who was the ground floor office manager in NK - a slim stern looking lady, was away at a meeting in to discuss progress.

There was no sign of any work/decorating going on.?!

I had to go to the immigration in Nong Khai, earlier this week, hopefully for the last time. Khon Kaen will be much more convenient.

I thought that this was going to be open 1 or 2 days a week, is it going to be a fully operational office, does anyone know?

She went on to say that she will be joined in approximately 3 months time by 6 -7 other Immigration Officers that is the time when it will be completely up and running, up until then all 12 monthly visa extensions, you still have to go to Nong Khai.

From a thread on a khonkaen forum.

Well, Im hoping that I will be able to get a double entry tourist visa in Laos next month ( I only have 1 double in my passport now - so hopefully will not have a problem). That would mean that by the time I want to get an extension, they should be fully operational.

After that, back to the UK for a visit and get a non o
