Gluten Free

Featured Replies

HI I work for a restaurant and we just got a inquiry asking if we had a gluten free menu.. I will refrain from Sarcastic remarks.

However I do need to know does soy sauce have Wheat in it? I have this idea and I don't know why.

Specifically the cheap a** stuff like maggie but perhaps even Kikoman?

PLease let me know besides the normal Bread what else should be avoided by people who are gluten free.

search for 'celiac' diets; they give u alist of every single thing that has wheat or wheat products in them that could cause a problem for someone on a gluten free diet; also they tend to list country specific brands....

soy sauce has gluten in it.

its not just bread, its spices/soup mix additives/candies etc. and for some celiacs, even touching crumbs can cause problems...

when i cook for a celiac person i use only items i know havent touched any thing else during the day plus if they arent too too strict (eating out ) then rice noodles/rice, soups w/o knorr etc added, eggs, chicken, meats, all clean, no batters and never cooked with other things... just google... plus u can google each company + celiac and lists will show....

thats what i do here in our kitchen since non gluten cooking here is not yet a 'thing' like in the states.

Japanese "Tamari" soy sauce should be gluten free only made from soy,Kikkomans and most others are made with wheat and soy.
