Hi,

My daughter is 4 yrs old, was borm in US. She also has Thai Birth Certificate, and her name is also on my House Registration (Ta Bean Baan) in Thailand. But she doesn't have Thai passport yet.

We plan to relocate to Thailand in a couple of month. For a personal reason I won't be able to go to Thai Embassy in LA and apply passport for her. My question is;

Can my daughter enter Thailand by using US passport (without visa) and apply passport while we are in thailand?

Thanks,

B

Provided she has the Thai biorthcertificate and is on soemone tabien baan she can apply for a passport in Thailand. Both parents wil have to sign the application.

However, she will be entering on a US passport and will need a visa, otherwise the airline might not take her with them.

She cannot change her status from alien to Thai national in Thaiand itself, for that she has to leave Thailand again on her US passport en re-enter on het Thai passport.

Ah, see the problem now, the child must appear in person, finger prints, etc. Would there be, perhaps, one of their Mobile Consular Units in your area before you head to Thailand?
