Bangkok sets up mobile trouble-shooters

BANGKOK: -- Mobile unit in Bangkok’s 50 municipal district offices will now deal with the city’s local residents’ complaints for urgent matters.

The Bangkok Emergency Service Team (BEST), with mobile units that will provide the city residents with round-the-clock contingent service, was officially launched on Friday by the Bangkok Governor, Apirak Kosayothin.

“BEST represents a significant change to the services provided by the bureaucracy," Mr. Apirak said.

The mobile team will try to solve problems reported by the city’s residents, including issues like potholes, flooded roads, broken sewer

covers and fallen trees that block the traffic.

The BEST units would try to help solve problems before they get worse to help increase the comfort and security of Bangkok’s residents, said the governor.

The team has 52 trucks, each equipped with the tools, including electric saws, welding torches and materials to repair roads.

Problems can be reported on the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's hotline 1555.

A mobile team will be dispatched within an hour to deal with the problem, Mr. Apirak promised.
