Generally how long after spouse visa has been approved does the visa need to be used.

Any advise appreciated.

The entry date will be on the visa. But it is generally 12 months from the date the Embassy received the first documents for the application.

So....if they receive the medical report on the 4th October 2009......the final date for entry will be the 3rd October 2010.

If you put the application in prior to doing the medical at VFS on the 4th October 2009 and the Embassy receives it on the 7th October 2009 then the final entry date will be the 6th October 2010

Hi This is just based on the DIMA website but it would seem a temporary visa is for 2 years whilst a permanent application is being processed. That would suggest the spouse can enter any time during that 2 years. As Graham has stated the visa will have a start and end date and its good for any entries during that period. You don't necessarily have to use it until 23 months, although that might impact your permanent application, eg why did she wait until nearly the end of the temporary visa period before entering Australia for the first time.

The visa will have a "Must enter by" date on it....usually 12 months after the date the first documents are received by the Embassy....the applicant must enter by that date or the visa will be cancelled.
