Hi

I wonder if there is other lounge cards than http://www.prioritypass.com/index.cfm I fly with so many different airlines that i will never get the gold card, only a lot of different silver, please let me know what you guys use. Hate to walk around for hours and hours in an airport.

Thx.

Priority Pass is a rotten swizz. Avoid that scam like the plague.

Just pre-book lounge access on the internet from 10 GBP upwards. Check the links below:

Hi

Thx a lot, problem is i never know where i am going and when, could be i 2 hours. Would be nice to have a card. Also look more expensive when you want to use a lounge maybe 15 times a year. Will keep looking.

Whats wrong with Priority??

They charge you a yearly annual fee and then charge you again upon entry into a lounge.

Better to book lounge access as you go.

However in certain cases if you buy the full rate $299 annual priority pass card and are a very frequent flier, regularly visiting airports with available Priority Pass lounges you can come out ahead money-wise.

BUT: If you are a very frequent flier you are probably a moneyed professional or have a comfortable occupation. In that case simply get a Platinum American Express or Diners card that allows free airport lounge access, the fee will be similar to Priority Pass and offer a host of other free benefits.

Remember that a lot of Priority Club members have/had no idea that they could pre-book (better?) lounges on the two sites I have given above.

Slightly off topic, if you apply (& are approved) for a Central Platinum Master Card, one of the benefits is a Priority Pass membership card. Therefore, you would not need to pay the Priority Pass card joining fee and annual fee.

Visa Platinum comes with a free Priority Pass membership.

I notice that the links in post #2 connect to 1/ servisair (which Priority Pass also uses - I was in the LHR lounge recently and it was certainly OK) and 2/loungepass, which quotes the Schoenefeld Junkers lounge in Berlin which is also a PP lounge. With PP though you don't have to pre-book at all - it's walk-in and pay (usually around €20). Admittedly the Berlin Tegel PP lounge is a disgrace, but Tegel was always a bit pokey.

There's no doubt, most of these lounges don't measure up to the airline business class versions. But if you're travelling economy they're still better than the noise and crush of packed airport concourses and restaurant/cafés crammed with delayed frustrated hassled short-tempered divorce bound families testosterone fuelled salesmen gobbing off to their assistants about "I soon told them" blahblah - uugghhh and people wandering past you wafting all the pongs of the duty free at you if they're not farting and getting in your way with impossible mountains of luggage which they argue all day at the check-in about and what DO they take with them and security takes ages and most have all had a few and are aggressive cos they can't smoke in the terminal and have to sit in little glass fronted gas chambers when they need one which humiliates them and reminds them how addicted they are and most of them are actually quite afraid of flying cos they don't do it that often and don't understand it anyway and what about the suicide bombers a few years ago they simply took a case off the plane if someone didn't board in case it had a bomb in it but today the bastard may well board along with his bomb in the hold anyway and so on and on ...

Flying used to be so nice. I don't begrudge anyone the experience, but only lounges and business class conjure up a certain feeling of ease and space and peace and quiet and distant lands and decent service again these days. And that costs more. PP's worth it for me. Don't all rush out and get one please!

I assume that the term " airside " means after you have passed through immigration----it seems that these lounges are all just that - what about if you want to check baggage in early - and relax in a lounge with a friend who is there to wish you Bon Voyage---are they not availible " land-side " ???

Nope, the whole idea behind airports is get you through to the air side ASAP so you can spend money of the duty free variety.

My Amex Platinum and my Diners Club card have lounge programs. Part of the annual fee. As well, HSBC Premier has a few lounges.

There was a great land side bar/restaurant with a view of the tarmac, but it closed down about the time of the PAD occupation. It was always quiet with nice lounge type seating. I don't know if it ever reopened, but my goodbyes were always less private while it was closed.

Different. levels of Priority Club membership but the one that includes for the 10 Free visits is about £160 year but various organisations are offering promotions of between 10-20 % discount..eg Business Traveller...(the Mag) with guest @ £15 per go.

Also if you are leaving Suwanna on a Thai flight but no gold card you can get into the Business Lounge (TG)for 5,000 air miles /visit....7.5 K with guest... :)
