hi, i am really constrained by time so i need an extension.

going to bangkok on 15th oct to get letter from irish consulate in order we can get married. my non o visa expired couple of months ago so my final date for departure from thailand is the 17th october. we should be married on the 16th with papers so my question is can i get an extension in bangkok when i am there, for another month.

i dont want to have to go to border crossing to get additional 15 days so your help is appreciated.

regards.

Once married you can obtain a 60 day extension of stay but time may be an issue as you would have to do that on the 16th. Both you and wife/passport/4x6cm photo/marriage certificate/wife ID card and likely her home register. Tm.7 form and 1,900 baht.

You will not be granted an extension as your non-immigrant visa has expired.

His Non-O visa has expired, but his current permission to stay is until 17th Oct (did 90 day border run before expiry). As long as permission to stay is valid he can apply for extension.

Yes he will if he applies on or before his permission to stay expires on 17th October. That being a Saturday he would have to apply on 16th. Assuming he is married by then.

I stand corrected it seems.

However my understanding, based on my visa extension experience and having spoken with immigration officers here in Pattaya, was that the applicant must have a current non-immigrant visa.

No. You must have a current permission to stay.

Once you enter the country you no longer have a Visa. You have a permission to stay.

OK. I understand now and, having thought about it, it makes perfect sense.

Sorry for the mis-information.

Thanks.
