Obtained an OA visa from Thai Consulate in Los Angels in Sept. They only give single entry and no multiple entry visa are given in LA. They also advist that entry must be withing 90 days from the September date that visa was issued in LA.

The staff in LA said that when I arrive at BKK airport it would be marked that it is 1 year stay. However they did not say if the Immigration Officer at the regular booth would do that marking or I should go to the desk that says Visa on Arrival. Anyone know the answer

I assume that once I have the 1 year stamp that I can go to the new immigration office and get a re-entry permit after paying a 1000 baht fee. I also believe that I can get a multiple re-entry permit for about 3800 THB and I would have unlimited exit/re-entry privliges for the life of my 1 year OA visa Can anyone confirm this to be true

The last gray area for me is what happens after the 1 eyar. Do I go to the local Immigration Office in BKK to get the OA extended or do I have to leave the country and re-do it again

Thanks for any info

1. You will stamped in for one year on arrival at the airport, at the REGULAR booth. Just be sure to write your visa number on your landing card.

2. Yes, you can buy a single or multiple reentry permit at your local Thai immigration office in Thailand, good for keeping your one year permission to stay alive when leaving the country during that time.

3. About one month before expiration of your one year stay, apply at your local Thai immigration office for an annual extension based on retirement. First, learn what requirements you must meet to have a successful application. You most certainly don't ever have to go back home to get a new OA.

Go to the usual immigration desk at the airport when you arrive.

Yes you will need a Re Entry Permit if you want to leave the country. 1,000 Baht for a single. 3,800 for a multi. Obtained from your local Immigration Office.

When your year is up go to Immigration and apply for a 12 month extension of stay based on retirement.

2.22 In the case of a retiree: Permission will be granted for a period of not more

than 1 year at a time.

(2) The applicant is 50 years of age or over;

(3) Proof of income of not less than Baht 65,000 per month; or

(4) Account deposit with a bank in Thailand of not less than

800,000 Baht as shown in the bank account for the past 3 months at the filing date of the application. For the first year, the applicant should have that amount in his bank account for not less than 60 days or

(5) Annual income plus bank account deposit totaling not less

than Baht 800,000 as of the filing date of application

No medical or police report is needed for this.

If you have an Non O-A (Retirement) a border run just before the expiry of it will give you a further 12 mths before having to make extensions.

A multi entry is handy to have incase of unexpected trips during the year.

On the 2nd year again you will require a re-entry permit as any departure from the country will invalidate your visa.

Remember you need to notify Immigration of your details every 90 days. (Form TM47)

This only hold true if you have a multi-entry Non O-A visa. A single entry Non O-A visa will only give you a 12 month stay.
