Lufthansa to Relaunch Inflight Internet

From the middle of 2010, Lufthansa's customers will again be able to communicate via the internet above the clouds, as the airline relaunches FlyNet, its on-board broadband Internet service.

The new service will also permit inflight data transfer over standard GSM/GPRS mobile networks. Why did they stop the internet service the first time??????

Why did they stop the internet service the first time??????

Complaints from passengers who just want to sleep.

Its bad enough on a long train journey. Imagine sitting next to someone taptaptapping away for 12 hours....pure torture!!

Actually it wasn't cost effective.. Boeing installed the original service which I thought was amusing since it was on an Airbus. Used it free on a flight to Frankfurt a few years back. :)

"I'm on the plane, dear!!!"

No escape!!!!!!!!

But they categorically ruled out allowing mobile phones (which is technically possible). Clicking of computer keys I can handle, but some self-important git screaming into his phone could lad to murder :) .

^Well let's hope voice chat and skype are blocked. :)
