Will be coming to Chaingmai soon, from America. Should I go ahead and get my eyes checked here, and new glasses and contacts, etc. or wait until I get to Chaingmai? Can I get good service for cheap there?

Can anyone recommend a good clinic, and give me prices?

Thanks.

I went to Maharaj govt. hospital at Suan Dok gate, through the special clinic on the ground floor that sends you to the specialists on the 13th floor. They have several ophthalmologists; mine last year was a fairly young female MD specialist. Total cost was 250 baht for the examination without dilating pupils; probably would have been 350 baht with dilation. I don't know where the best opticians are for frames and lenses, but they needn't be expensive.

I'm sure you can get quality exam and frames and lenses for a FRACTION of what you pay in a native speaking English country.
